Education

Tower College - Nursery, Primary and Senior Schools

Uganda is working towards free education for all Primary school age children, but presently this is not available, especially in rural areas. Many parents are unable to afford school fees for large extended families.

Tower College Schools have 1,200 pupils ages 4-16. They provide the Ugandan Government Education Curriculum by fully qualified Ugandan Teachers; who are also supported in their own further study. Tower College Schools have some of the best educational results in Uganda and Just Care is working in partnership with the Governments Board of Education.

This work is supported by Rachel Oxley, Headmistress of Tower College Independent School in Liverpool with her staff, children and parents.

KNAPs

Many children in Kamatuuza village can be seen wandering around in the daytime or working in the fields or brick factories as their families cannot afford to send them to school. You can see the difference between these children and the children on Just Care site who look clean, healthy and well cared for.

Having an education in Uganda will often mean the difference between these children growing up into adulthood remaining in poverty and poor health or being able to find good employment and totally changing their future.

Therefore with the Kamatuuza Not Able to Pay (KNAPS) programme ‘ Just Care ’ sponsor children from the local villages to be able to go to school. Many children will walk up to five miles to come to school on the site.

Doreen and Alan manage this programme; sponsors can pay £3.50 a month or £40 a year to provide a local child with equipment, and full time education at Tower College.
